Petacare started as an ambitious idea but needed a secure, production-ready cloud foundation to become a trusted brand. The company faced three pressing challenges:
- Sensitive genomic data required HIPAA-aligned security and compliant storage.
- Scalability limits on local prototypes made it difficult to ingest and process DNA test results at volume.
- AI-driven workflows were essential to deliver real-time pet health insights, but lacked the infrastructure to run at scale.
Without modernization, Petacare risked delays in development, rising costs, and limited ability to roll out its consumer brand, BioTech Pet.

Migration to AWS + GenAI innovation with RSNA Cloud Connect

With the added guidance of Tory Goranson, Senior AWS Business Manager, RSNA Cloud Connect architected the migration path and built advanced GenAI and Agentic AI workloads that transformed Petacare’s technical foundation and accelerated time-to-market:
Migration to AWS
- Databases – Petacare’s prototype MySQL systems were migrated into Amazon RDS, ensuring scalability, backups, and multi-AZ resiliency.
- File Storage – DNA files, lab reports, and vaccination records were centralized in Amazon S3 with AWS KMS encryption.
- Compute Modernization – Microservices were containerized on Amazon ECS with AWS Fargate, and event-driven tasks shifted to AWS Lambda.
- Security & Compliance – IAM with fine-grained roles, Amazon VPC isolation, and CloudWatch/CloudTrail monitoring ensured Petacare met enterprise-level standards.
GenAI Workload Build
- Amazon Bedrock with Amazon Nova (Nova Sonic LLM) – Built the Pet Passport GenAI engine, leveraging Nova Sonic for fast, natural conversational responses about pets’ health, DNA lineage, and vaccination history.
- RAG with Amazon OpenSearch – Enabled high-accuracy retrieval from genomic and health data stored in S3, providing evidence-based answers.
- Serverless AI Delivery – AWS Lambda and API Gateway powered scalable interfaces for consumers and veterinary partners.
- Automation Pipelines – Uploads to S3 automatically trigger parsing and GenAI interpretation for real-time pet insights.
